704 Squadron Newsletter - March 8, 2022
1. We will not be parading during March Break. Our next training night will be March 21. We will be meeting at 413 Wing, RCAFA located at 230 N. Murray St, Trenton from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. All cadets are to be in full uniform, which consists of the light blue dress shirt and tie and tunic. Everyone will wear a mask and practice social distancing. Proof of vaccination is no longer required. Everyone will complete a screening questionnaire upon arrival. Cadets are to bring a pen, notebook and water bottle with them.
Any cadet that has not yet returned their annual validations or medical questionnaires must do so on Monday night.
If you are unable to attend training on a Monday night or an event that you have signed up for, you need to call or text the squadron at 613-921-7047 or report your absence on the squadron website by clicking here. Commenting on Facebook or telling a friend are NOT acceptable means of reporting your absence. This is the Cadets responsibility, not their parents.
2. Starting Wednesday, March 9, Supply will be open on Wednesday evenings (6:00pm to 8:00pm) and Sunday afternoons (2:00pm to 4:00) by appointment only. Cadets are to call or text the squadron at 613-921-7047 to book an appointment time. Supply is located at Active Self Storage, 400 Sidney St, Trenton. This is also an opportunity for any cadet not returning to the squadron to return the uniform and equipment on loan to them.
Some things to remember: a. Arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before your appointment time b. Uniform parts being returned or exchanged must be laundered c. Masks are mandatory d. Proof of vaccination is not required e. Parent/Guardian WILL accompany the cadet f. Enter the front door of Active Self Storage and follow the signs to Supply
3. Cadets interested in summer programs and courses are to let us know ASAP so that their application can be submitted for review. For more information on summer training and courses, click here.
4. The annual lottery held by the Ontario Provincial Committee of the Air Cadet League of Canada has commenced. Tickets are just $10 each. For prize information and to purchase tickets, click here. When you purchase your ticket, under the ORGANIZATION field, use the drop down menu and select TRENTON EAST 704. By doing this you are ensuring that 704 Squadron receives 25% of ticket sales.
5. COMMANDING OFFICER'S UNIFORM CONTEST: As announced last week, cadets are invited to create a uniform design. Categories are: Most Authentic Recreation of a current uniform (without using any current uniform parts); Most Unique or Creative Design; and Most Futuristic Design. Prizes for each category will be awarded. 1st Place = $20 Walmart card, 2nd Place = $10 McDonald's card and 3rd Place = $5.00 Tim Horton's card. Good luck!!!
