Summer Training

Summer courses are divided in to two separate categories, National courses and Quota courses. Cadets applying to National courses must undergo an interview and possible examination by the Air Cadet League. Cadets applying to Quota courses must be eligible by the course criteria and be selected through a merit board at the Squadron level. The following summer courses are available to cadets:

NATIONAL COURSES


International Exchanges and Trips

International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE)

  • Must be 17 years of age or older
  • Level 5 completed

Oshkosh Trip (OT)

  • Must be 15 years of age or older
  • Level 3 completed

 

Pilot

Power Pilot Scholarship (PPS)

  • Must be 17 years of age or older
  • Level 4 completed

Glider Pilot Scholarship (GPS)

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Level 3 completed

 

Technology and Aerospace

Advanced Aviation Technology Course - Airport Operations (AATC-AO)

  • Target age 15 years or older
  • Level 3 completed

Advanced Aviation Technology Course - Aircraft Maintenance (AATC-AM)

  • Target age 15 years or older
  • Level 3 completed

Advanced Aerospace Course (AASC)

  • Target age 15 years or older
  • Level 3 completed

 

Military Band

Military Band - Music Levels 4-5 Course (MB-AMC) (6 week)

  • Must have above Basic Music Qualification on one instrument or more
  • Level 3 completed
  • No interview or examination required

 

Pipe Band

Pipe Band - Pipes & Drums Levels 4-5 Course (PB-AMC) (6 week)

  • Must have above Basic Music Qualification on one instrument or more
  • Level 3 completed
  • No interview or examination required

 

QUOTA COURSES

Pilot

Advanced Aviation Course (AAC) (3 weeks)     

  • Level 3 completed

Basic Aviation Course (BAC) (3 weeks)    

  • Level 2 completed

 

Technology and Aerospace

Basic Aviation Technology and Aerospace Course (BATAC) (3 weeks)     

  • Level 2 completed

 

Drill and Ceremonial

Drill and Ceremonial Instructor Course (DCIC) (6 weeks) 

  • Level 3 completed

Basic Drill and Ceremonial (BDCC) (3 weeks)     

  • Level 2 completed

 

Survival

Survival Instructor Course (SIC) (6 weeks)  

  • Level 3 completed

Basic Survival Course (BSC) (3 weeks)      

  • Level 2 completed

 

Fitness and Sports

Fitness and Sports Instructor Course (FSIC) (6 weeks)

  • Level 3 completed

Basic Fitness and Sports Course (BFSC) (3 weeks)     

  • Level 2 completed

 

Marksmanship

Air Rifle Marksmanship Instructor Course (ARMIC) (6 weeks)  

  • Level 3 completed

 

Military Band

Military Band - Intermediate Musician Course (MB-IMC) (6 weeks)     

  • Must have above Basic Music Qualification on one instrument or more
  • Level 3 completed

Military Band - Basic Musician Course (MB-BMC) (3 weeks)      

  • Must have above Basic Music Qualification on one instrument or more
  • Level 2 completed

 

Pipe Band

Pipe Band - Intermediate Musician Course (PB-IMC) (6 weeks)     

  • Must have above Basic Music Qualification on one instrument or more
  • Level 3 completed

Pipe Band - Basic Musician Course (PB-BMC) (3 weeks)    

  • Must have above Basic Music Qualification on one instrument or more
  • Level 2 completed

 

Familiarization Course

General Training Course (GTC) (2 weeks)     

  •  Level 1 completed

Note: All levels must be completed by the end of the training year.

Following the selection process, those cadets who have been selected to represent our Squadron will be contacted directly. Please note that being selected for nomination in no way guarantees that cadets will be attending Summer Training. Regional & National selection boards/exams will be the major deciding factor in your participation.
